Gottingen type wind tunnel
The Gottingen Wind Tunnel is a wind tunnel that recycles air through the system. Air that has passed through the test section is forced back through the tunnel and back into the test section by a drive fan. Because the same air is recycled over and over, the Gottingen Wind Tunnel generally requires less power.

Smoke wind tunnel
Smoke wind tunnels employ the continuous suction mechanism of the Eiffel Wind Tunnel and allow visualization of the flow of smoke through the tunnel. Because the fan is positioned downstream it has little effect on airflow providing a uniform airstream.
